49ers All Time Leaders: Passing, Rushing, Receiving and More
Jerry Rice has more than double the catches of anybody else in franchise history, and I still can't get over it.
Okay, I've been looking at these numbers all night and I need somebody to look at them with me. Jerry Rice has 1,281 catches for this franchise. The second guy on the list has 629. Rice has more than double the second best receiver in 49ers history, and the second best receiver in 49ers history is George Kittle, who's a tight end, and who's still playing!
That's what this page is. Every big 49ers all time leaderboard in one place, through the Falcons game this season, with me yelling next to each one.

Passing yards
- Joe Montana 35,124
- John Brodie 31,548
- Steve Young 29,907
- Jeff Garcia 16,408
- Y.A. Tittle 16,016
Brodie at number two is the name your dad brings up and you nod along. He earned it. Purdy's at 13,433 and climbing.
Passing touchdowns
- Joe Montana 244
- Steve Young 221
- John Brodie 214
- Jeff Garcia 113
- Y.A. Tittle 108
Brock Purdy has 99. NINETY NINE. Mr. Irrelevant is one throw from 100 in a Niners uniform. I'm going to lose my mind.
Rushing yards
- Frank Gore 11,073
- Joe Perry 8,689
- Roger Craig 7,064
- Ken Willard 5,930
- Garrison Hearst 5,535
Perry's number counts his AAFC years. Gore's a third round pick who came back from two knee surgeries and ran past everybody. Love that man forever.
Rushing touchdowns
- Frank Gore 64
- Joe Perry 50
- Roger Craig 50
- Ken Willard 45
- Christian McCaffrey 38
McCaffrey's already in the top five, and he only got here in 2022. Steve Young's right behind him with 37, which is hilarious and awesome.
Receptions
- Jerry Rice 1,281
- George Kittle 629
- Terrell Owens 592
- Roger Craig 508
- Dwight Clark 506
Roger Craig, a running back, is number four. That tells you everything about how Bill Walsh saw the game.
Receiving yards
- Jerry Rice 19,247
- Terrell Owens 8,572
- George Kittle 8,433
- Dwight Clark 6,750
- Gene Washington 6,664
Kittle's 139 yards behind T.O. He's getting that this season, maybe by Thanksgiving. Do the math with me. It's fun.
Receiving touchdowns
- Jerry Rice 176
- Terrell Owens 81
- Gene Washington 59
- George Kittle 57
- Vernon Davis 55
176! There's no good way to process 176. Kittle needs three to take third alone.
Sacks since 1982
- Bryant Young 89.5
- Charles Haley 66.5
- Nick Bosa 64.5
- Ahmad Brooks 51.5
- Dana Stubblefield 46.5
Sacks became official in 1982, so the old guys don't count here. Bosa's two sacks from second. In 87 games! Get healthy, Nick.
Interceptions
- Ronnie Lott 51
- Jimmy Johnson 47
- Kermit Alexander 36
- Merton Hanks 31
- Dwight Hicks 30
Lott had part of a finger taken off rather than miss games. Of course he's first. Nobody was going to out tough that guy for anything.
Points
- Jerry Rice 1,130
- Ray Wersching 979
- Tommy Davis 738
- Robbie Gould 704
- Mike Cofer 673
A wide receiver leads the franchise in points. Over every kicker. Go ahead and read that sentence again. I'll wait.
Head coaches by wins
George Seifert's on top with 98 regular season wins, and he did it in only 128 games, which is a ridiculous 98 and 30. Bill Walsh has 92. Kyle Shanahan's coming up behind them, Buck Shaw has 71 and Dick Nolan has 54. Seifert's the guy who took over from a legend and just kept winning, and I don't think he'll ever get enough credit around here.
The chase I'm actually watching
Purdy to 100 touchdown passes. Kittle catching T.O. in yards. Bosa catching Haley in sacks. All three of those could happen this year, on a team that's 6 and 1, and I can't remember the last time I checked a leaderboard on purpose in November and felt this good about it.
Nobody's catching Rice, though. I've checked.
If you want the rings to go with the numbers, here's every 49ers Super Bowl, and the guys whose jerseys nobody'll ever wear again are on the Bay Area retired numbers page. Purdy's efficiency case lives over here, and the rest is on the 49ers hub.
